Hello, I am using a cable modem to connect to the internet and I use VOIP
(lingo) as phone system. I keep my computer on all day long for other
reasons. Occasionally, I loose internet connection and consequently my phone
service without me even knowing it until people complain that can not call
me. To restore service I normally just need to reboot the cable modem. Since
is very important for me to receive immediate notification if the internet
goes down, is there any option of software for windows XP that I can generate
and Audio alert (alarm) if the internet connection is lost?

I do not know of such of software. But, there is a category of
software where you can allways keep an active connection to the
Internet "opened". You can usually find these software by searching
the Internt for "keeo alive" Internet connection,
