Bridging Network Adapters and Security

I have a several computers connected together through a router to DSL. They
are all connected through ethernet. I have a NAS unit (D-Link DNS-323)
connected to a second ethernet card in my main computer. I use the NAS unit
primarily for music that I want to share with the other computers in the
house. However, I want to control access such as "read only" and control
which files they have access to. Is this something I can do using the Bridge
between the two network adapters or look for some other solution? Is there
any security in using the bridging method? Come to think of it as I re-read
my questions, this is probably a bad Idea because it would require me to
leave my computer on all the time and I always shut it down when I'm not
going to be using for a few hours, or at night.

Anyway, I would still like answers to my questions.

Have a good day,

Steve

I also have a NAS unit which stores all my music, films etc.. What i would do
is get a switch and plug all your computers to that, making your own network
behind your router. Then you can have your NAS unit pluged in to the switch
and then use the "Map network drive" option to find the folders you want.
Also on your NAS unit there it should be possible to add users and control
their access to the Unit.

Well this is what i have done and it works great.
Hope this gives you some ideas

The DNS-323 should be plugged into the router and can be left on
24/7 without being connected to a computer. D-Link's interface on
this device will let you specify permissions exactly as you state
you want to do.

Hi
The whole idea of a NAS is to be able to connect storage directly to the
Network Independent of individual computers. The way you connect it does not
call for a NAS, any regular Hard Drive can function as a storage on a
computer and access can be controlled by Windows Sharing setting.
