Breaking Link To Another Workbook

I radically modified an Excel 2000 workbook that was linked to another
workbook; Book 2. I'll soon have the entire book completely converted to
other sources of data. I'm concerned that when I break the last dependency
on that original source, something in the modified book will continue to ask
me to link it to Book 2. Can someone please comment? Will the modified
workbook automatically stop the popup window asking to assign that link or
will I have to take some special steps?
