I have a listbox with a choice of 5 items. How can I get Access to count the
number of entries for each item?

When you say "count the number of entries for each item", do you mean you
have a table with multiple rows, and in each row you have a field/value that
corresponds to one of the items in your listbox? This is a "reports"
newsgroup -- are you saying you have a listbox in a report?

information is inputted on to a form and from this compiled into a Table ie
choose colour - red, yellow, green, blue, black, I am trying to get a
breakdown of numbers for each colour from the table.

Take a look at a Totals query, GroupBy Colour, Count a field like the rowID.
