Bossy folder

When I start (or restart) my windows XP pro, upon booting to the desktop a folder opens up auomatically. "C:\Program Files\Common" will be sitting open on my desktop!!! I have never been in this folder, It is not in my start up folder, I do not recall ever opening it, I don't use it, and I have to close it every single time after a reboot. It's drivin' me NUTS! If somebody has the solution on how to keep this bossy old folder closed on start up I would appreciate it. I have also already tried this solution: Remove Common Tasks from Desktop http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/xp_commtask_desktop.htm............... this did not work

First run virus program and then Spybot or ad-aware to
remove any spyware.Go to Start>run msconfig >startup
tab and uncheck said folder in startup list....Good luck.

Folder is not listed in the msconfig options threrfore cannot be "unchecked" this was actually one of the first things I tried also there are no viruses present, anybody else?
 
I'm right there with you and I can't figure out what's launching it either. Nothing in MSConfig, can't find any registry keys that might be causing it, and it continues to haunt me. Fortunately I don't reboot often so I don't experience this on a regular basis. Still very annoying! If you come up with a solution, I'd appreciate you dropping me a line at
