OK, I'm sorry for this, boss changed his mind
Here's what I have

Cell 1: Start dat
Cell 2: Start tim
Cell 3: End dat
Cell 4: End Tim

Here's what I need

1) Total number of hours and minutes between the start and end
2) Daily totals added for seven day total (more than one entry per day)

Any help at all would be great. Thanks

Hi
try the following
=(A3-A1)+(A4-A2)
and format this cell with the custom format [hh]:mm

The second part of your question I don't understand. Maybe you can give
an example

Clayton, why not hold date and time in one cell?

Yes but as your start and end days can be different, which applies?

Here's a detailed example

The dates will always be sequential. Starting from 01/05/04 through 01/11/04 is the first week, 01/12/04 through 01/18/04 the second, etc
Most jobs take only a few hours, hence the multiple entries per days. Some jobs take several days, hence we have days with zero entries
What I need is a per job tally; and tallys for each day, week, month, quarter. For a graphical example

Cell 1: Start dat
Cell 2: Start tim
Cell 3: End dat
Cell 4: End tim
Cell 5: This job tim
Cell 6: Daily tim
Cell 7: Weekly tim
Cell 8: Monthly tim
Cell 9: Quarterly tim

But that doesn't answer my question.

If a job starts on Mon and finishes on Wed, which totals does it go in ,
Mon, Wed, Tue. And now you have introduced weeks and months too with the
same problems.

Also post some data with cell reference (A1, B3 etc, not cell1 , cell 2),
and more that one item.
