borders in autoshapes

I have autoshapes overlapping eachother and the border lines on the shapes
are visible. Can I remove the border in the overlapping area without having
to remove the border lines altogether?

Here's what I said then...
"I'm wondering why you want to do this? If you mean that you would like the
shape of two intersecting rectangles with a continuous border then you can
draw it simply using the freehand tool in autoshapes > lines. If you wish you
could trace the two rectangle shapes."

Feel free to email me if you're stuck john AT SIGN technologytrish.co.uk

Thank you. I removed the lines on the autoshape.
I drew them in with the drawing toolbar once my shapes were in place.

Hi Julie that seems to have worked for you but ...

Just so you understand. If you draw (or trace ) a closed shape with the
freeform tool you will be able to fill it with a colour, gradient, texture
etc. Its not the same as adding a line to the existing rectangles. Hope that
makes sense.

John,
What I understand is this:
I have overlapping autoshapes, essentially lines crisscrossing
perpendicularly.
To eliminate the borders showing at the intersection point, I have used
Format > Autoshape > and Under the "line specification" I have chosen NO LINE.
Then, I have gone back and drawn lines so that my autoshapes have line
borders.
My shapes are currently a gradient texture, with two colors.
