When I bootup the Computer, I get a error invalid disk in
drive a:, there is no disk in the a: drive, it was a cold
boot up first thing in the morning and i received this?
can i re-install windows 2000 without losing any data?
 
this problem happened when the computer was first turned
on in the morning, it said, (invalid disk in drive a:) but
no disk was in drive a: it wouldn't let me get to the bios
or anything else.

Then that is not a Windows problem. That is a computer hardware problem. I
asked for more details, but you didn't tell me any more than in your first
message. :>(

What make and model is your computer? Is it still in warranty? Do you have
the owner's manual, which might tell you how to get into the BIOS on this
machine?

If you mention the make of your computer (Dell? HP? Home-built, like
mine?) then we may be able to help you. If you won't even tell us that,
then there's nothing we can do for you.
