I have an WIN2K based equipment with the BIOS disabled.
After loading service pack 3, I got the fatal blue screen
with "SESSION5_INITIALIZATION_FAILED". Now it fails to
boot completely and also fails to goto SAFE mode.
The equipment has no floppy drive, but has a slot for
PCMCIA card.
Any ideas on how to boot this equipment?

Does it have a Cddrive? and will it boot to that??

if not try adding a floppy .

although I'm puzzled by the BIOS disabled, I've not heard
of this, how does the system know where to look if the
BIOS is disabled?? am I misunderstanding this?? are you
just locked out of the BIOS password protected??

correct email is (e-mail address removed)

What kind of equipment is this? How did you disable the BIOS? How did you
load the service pack?

He likely means that someone's password protected the BIOS,
and he can't get in...you can't disable the BIOS, short of removing it from
it's socket or screwing it over during a flash upgrade.

If so, cgsecurity.org has a utility recover or bypass the BIOS password,
can't recall which. The listing of BIOSs on which it works suggests that
wont' work with the most recent versions, but it's always worth a try. DOS
boot floppy is needed.

Most motherboards have a clear CMOS jumper which allows you to reset BIOS to default, thus erasing any password and allowing access to BIOS menu. Check documentation that came with MB or PC for location.
