Hello all I was wondering if someone could shed some light.

I have just built a system using a A7V8X Mb .

Everything is installed component wise Amd xp2400 Gforce 3 ti200 agp card
256mb 2700ddr ram Excelsor 80g hd .....

Machine starts processor fan runs case fans run dvd rom works hd works for
the little time it has to but the Monitor straight away goes into standby
mode .....I have tried another monitor no joy ....I am trying to get to the
stage of installing an operating system but its pretty hard without no
visuals :)....

Any Help would be much appreciated ...maybe I have missed a jumper setting
somewhere....or could the processor be duff ?

Regards Eddie

Hmm. The info is a bit sketchy, but I'm gonna guess bad monitor. Prob the
flyback transformer.

See if you can borrow a diff monitor and see what that does.

Please post a follow-up.

Can you pull the AGP card out and install an old PCI card for test
purposes? If not, maybe another AGP card or reseat the one you have.
That may help narrow it down.

Hello Eddie

Which version of the A7V8X MoBo are you using?

Just a possibility:
I've an A7V8X-MX with built-on video. When you use a separate video-card,
besides video on the mobo, you have to disable first, the mobo's video in
the BIOS.

I have had the monitor and memory and gf card working on my other tower
unit.....I have also tried a pci card with the same results.

I have noticed that the SB_PWR1 light stays on during boot up ...so when it
gets to monitor part of cycle it goes green for a sec then onto orange
standby.....

This is my first build and it aint plain sailing :)

Do you get the beep that says POST is ok?

It's almost certainly a problem with the video card not initialising, I
would suspect that it isn't getting through POST.

I just found my problem turned the volume up full on my speakers to hear
this faint voice saying cpu failure ...oh well back it wil have to go ...I
think .... :(

You may have a bad video card, or your power supply unit may be too
underpowered to drive your components.
