Booting problem

When I boot up my machine running XP professional, it
stops at "Failure predicted on primary Master: Maxtor
33073H3" and gives me the following message:

Warning: Immediately back-up your data and replace your
hard drive. A failure is imminent.

Or hit F1 to continue.

I verified my hard drive with the Windows system
utility "Analyse"; also with the Maxtor PowerMax utility
which certified it error free, and with the on-line
diagnostic from Western Digital; Neither reported a
problem with the hard drive, and it is not noisy.
Needless to say my data is backed up on daily basis.

Any suggestion as to the next step, or how do I remove
that error message from the booting process.

Thanks

Still sounds like the drive is going to fail and soon. Check to see if all
the hard drive cable are correctly and completely connected. Change the IDE
cable to one that does not have too many folds in it.

If you see this message during the boot, before Windows even begins to load,
believe the message.

I have never seen the S.M.A.R.T. error message without having a subsequent
failure (on any of my clients machines). It the message is there, Maxtor -
W.D. - Seagate etc. WILL replace the drive for you. It is "their" built in
hardware monitor that is alerting you to the fact that "their" drive is
going bad!
