Cannot really boot my computer at the time. It just loads to a black screen
before the login screen. It won't come on on any modes. Just the black screen.

Are you getting a POST screen or anything at all (like a manufacturers
post screen) or is it just going black when it powers up?

Do you get any beeping sounds? Is it a laptop?

If it is simply black with no indication that the computer is
operating at all on the screen then it is time to have it looked at.

You have not supplied much information to go on.

And you've removed that which *was* supplied.

Hi, I have a suggestion that may or may not work but I will give it to you.
Try booting up in safe mode with networking and then troubleshoot from there.
To do this you may already know but I will explain quickly just in case.
Restart the computer and keep tapping F8. Hopefully you will get a screen
with options of how you want to run Windows. Use the arrow keys to select
safe mode with networking and hit enter. Wait a few mintes as the screen
loads stuff.

After that you should be able to connect to the internet. If it were me I
would want to rule out the possibility of an infection like viruses/spyware
etc.

So try these two online scans:

Please let me know if this helps so I can learn more and improve my
services. Thanks,

For some people, this question is beyond comprehension, but when the
answer is discovered it is sometimes very helpful:

When you apply power to computer and are waiting for it to boot, if it
beeps, describe the sequencer of beeps and duration.

For example - no beeps, 1 short beep, 1 long beep, 1 short beep and 1
long beep, 3 short beeps...

Try using Safe Mode, and using System Restore. If it started happening all
of a sudden after you did something, System Restore should fix it.

Hi Ab,
Really, we need a little more information than this. Please try
to be a bit more detailed in your description of the boot process. Can you
see the Boot Options menu (press F8 as soon as the Power On Self Test ends)
with options like "Last known good configuration" ? Can you see the
"Windows XP loading" logo and flashing progress animation? Can you boot into
'Safe Mode' (press F8 and select 'Safe mode with command prompt') ?
