I have a Iomega 40GB Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Silver Series Portable Hard Drive and
would like to know if this drive can be made bootable from a Dell Latitude
D610? If I have the device plugged in when I turn on the Dell Laptop and
choose the "One Time Boot Menu (F12)", I see then option to boot from "USB
Storage Device". Does this mean that it is possible to boot from protable
hard drive? I have been unable to find any information specifically
addressing a large GB Hard Drive as a bottable option. Does anyone know if
this is an option or why this can not be done.

Thanks in advance,
Tom

In Thomas A. Bosscher had this to say:

It says it's for a thumb drive though it should work with any USB storage
assuming the laptop supports (as your's does it seems) boot to USB.

I haven't tried it but, well, let me know how it works. ;)

If that's a no-go there's a link at the bottom of the page:

Hello Tom,
Yes, it should be able to, but, you will have to do a few things
differantly. You need to go into your BIOS and tell it to boot off of the CD
ROM first, then enable boot from USB. Afterwards, Save and Close. Boot from
your CD ROM and tell it to install onto your USB drive. I have done this
before, and it has worked. I sure hope this helps! Let me know if you still
need some further help.
