Bootable CDR-can't see CD drives

Since my board is a P4P800 I am posting this here although it probably isn't
a real Asus problem. I created a bootable CD with Roxio 5 using the W98SE
startup disk for the floppy emulation. It runs the prog that is included
with the W98SE startup stuff to detect the CDs on the system (new LG CD-ROM
and a LG CD-RW) but it doesn't find any drives.

The same CD on my A7A266 works fine and finds my CD/DVD and a Samsung CD-RW.

Any hints as to what is going wrong?

Thanks,
Billh

After driving myself nuts I reset the BIOS and set the enhanced IDE to S-ATA
was S-ATA and P-ATA. Works now, finds both CD drives and interestingly my
throughput with Drive Image 2002 in DOS mode (HD to HD) is almoust double
what it was before.
Don't know exactly what fixed it but it was a BIOS problem of sorts. This is
a new machine.
