what files to i need to copy to my floppy to create a
startup disk to boot to the command prompt insted of my
windows 2000 O/S?

use a WIN98 startup floppy and you can boot to a
DOS prompt on drive A - however you will not be
able to seen any NTFS partitions

obsidian is mostly correct. You can read NTFS partitions w/ a driver
from sysinternals.com. Their free version allows you read only access
and their payware versions allows read and write access.

Anyway, I somehow think you were asking for NT functionality at a
command prompt, not DOS functionality.

You need to boot into the Recovery Console for that. You can install it
as a boot option in boot.ini, or just boot w/ the W2K CD and it's one of
the repair options.
