I know this does not deal with games, but was something
that I noticed after installing Service Pack 1 for Win XP Home.

Previously it took about 15 seconds to go from the Windows XP
start to the sign-in screen. After I installed SP1 there is a space of a
minute or two where I get a black screen between the time the windows
XP screen closes and the sign-in screen comes up. Any ideas why this
happens?
Someone had said to have the computer keep a log of the services run
during startup, but I can't figure out how to do that on XP Home.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have done all the updates, except for the latest Nvidia patch that comes up
on
Windows update. I am going to get that one from Fileplanet in the next few
days.

I did run a full system scan with the latest anti virus.

I did a check for spyware before and after SP1 was installed and found no
difference.

Any idea what or how to make it so a log is made at startup so I can check
if
one of the services that is run takes more time then it should?
Oh the computer is an HP 7935, with the special HP SP1 patch installed.

Thanks, Mike
