My daughters computer all of a sudden will not boot from either hard disk or
installation disk (XP Home) As soon as the computer says loading windows it
hangs.
(I get the windows window) The problem exists on all types of boots (safe
mode, last known good config, diag ...) It seems as though the whole computer
freezes (no blinking lights or noise from the hard drive)

Can anyone help

I have had this b4, I had 2 memory chips in the pc, took one out and it
worked fine, just a bad chip

Did you configure your PC's BIOS to boot off the CD-ROM drive? See:
