While upgrading my computer from windows 98se to windows
2000 pro, setup called for a restart. So i restarted, and
while starting up, it froze at "verifying DMI pool
data...." and just stops there, with the HDD light on my
tower staying solid.... im thinking that the windows 2000
pro installation was corrupted, but dont know how to
correct this problem. i created a startup disk from
another machine using the cdrom provided....no luck,
could someone please help me out?

I would boot the machine with the Win2000 CD, then
restart the conversion process.

If this fails then I would do a clean installation of Win2000.
This is my preferred option anyway: It gives you a far
superior installation of Win2000 than an upgrade ever will.

Your windows 2000 pro cd supports cd-rom boot.
Have you tried to insert the cd when your computer restarts
and selecting repair?

What type of system are you running? Per chance your system does
not meet the Windows 2000 HCL.

Hope this helps.
