Boot to second partition

Have a Drive Image 2002 (Powerquest) disk image of my primary partition
on an 80G SATA disk, drive C.
Have XP pro SP1 on it, which I am using right now writing this.

Restored this image on the second partition of the same SATA disk.
Changed the boot.ini file on the second partition to point to the second
partition.

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

Using partition magic (Powerquest), made the second partition active
and changed its drive letter to C.
Reboot. In the process, Partition Magic also hides the first partition. Hence
being able to use C as the drive letter.

It goes through the black screen with XP written on it and then gets to the Blue
screen with the cursor. But, there is no account name to use to login. It gets stuck there.

The image is OK since I have already restored it to the first partition and it works.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Navid

Unhide the partition and see what happens.

I have done this with Win 2k but did not hide the first partition.

Thanks for your reply.

I had to do something similar to what you suggested.
I restored the image to the second (primary) partition and rebooted
while the first partition was still active.
Then, I used the XP's disk management tool and made the second
partition active and changed boot.ini on the second partition to point
to the second partition and rebooted again.
This time, I used Partition Magic to hide the first partition and change
the second partition's letter to C at the same time and rebooted.
That did it.
