It's a long story, but unable to get to safe mode on Win 98 through
normal means, but can boot to DOS prompt.

The must be command line code like C:\win /? to open windows in safe
mode. Anyone know what it is?

Much appreciated.

Here is a small utility that will let you toggle *any* Win 32 version between
normal and safe mode startup, including Win 9x/ME and NT (the latter has no
native safe mode!). You may install ToggleMode from either Windows or DOS and
it's ideal for virus and malware cleaning jobs, as well as for repairing
Windows.

Is not NT4 "safemode" ~ VGA Mode?

In some aspects, but not all, and is inadequate for AV work. For why, read the
page I addressed you to.

The actual mode ToggleMode puts the system in is safe *with command prompt*
mode. How do you implement this mode for Windows 98, ME, and NT? Have you
tried it?

I remember using that with an SiS mainboard when the expected F-8 didn't
work, turns out that F-5 is their "trick" key for safe mode access.
With a bit of embarrassment, I admit, it was stated in the fine manual,
when I got around to reading it. <g>

I did read your page before post, but not closely enough.

safe *with command prompt* mode.

This is the part I did "not closely enough" read.

You are correct. Safe mode yes - all above OS, Safe@Prompt no.
Have you tried it?

No not as of yet, but I did take your utility for review.

Apologies for my "not closely enough" reading of your information.
