boot problems after cpu upgrade

Hi! I just upgraded my cpu (to P3 800/133). I properly flashed my
BIOS to make my computer compatable, did all the research on my ASUS
P2B-F to make sure. To make space I removed the AGX video card. I
installed the cpu with slot 1 adapter and plugged the video card back
in but now the computer doesn't power up properly. When the rear hard
switch is turned on, one of two things happen: power comes on and
stays on (no cycle down), or nothing at all. I can still turn on the
power from the front switch, but there's no video showing at all, just
intermittant flashes of red streaks. I really can't tell if the
computer is booting up at all. This happened before, and somehow I
"fixed" it by reinserting the video card (a new one, working) and cpu
card and resetting the "real-time clock" on the board by shorting the
solder points. But this time I can't seem to get my computer back to
normal. Any ideas (other than taking it to a repair shop)? Thanks.

I'd try swapping out the video card.
The other thing is the old standard of reseating everything on the board.
Especially the memory.

The bios flash is something I never tried so I can't say much about that
except if the shit hit the fan after you did it, well....

Try:

1. Check AGP slot for dirt....
2. Reset to default CMOS (BIOS) .. You can put out elec. cable and battary
of motherboard, wait for 2-3 min, return it. or you have there some jumper
to reset CMOS (BIOS). if it will not help, install old graphics card (PCI)
and I hope you made backup of old BIOS version.
3. Maybe you upgraded BIOS not properly, wrong version or sum bug.

Good Luck!

if the board is Coppermine capable (most those MoBo_s are), be shure
that slotket is FcPga capable, Cpu working & that video card can
handle 89MHz Agp clock & Ram is Pc133 ; if so also check the caps
around slot1 if they are leaking & bulging already; reseat al
components or try to boot with minimum of them or even using some old
PCI video card; etc; if still having problem, seek for professional
help from a friend comp.guru or so ..

I think you may have a board that won't run the AGP at a decent speed. The
AGP bus is probably "trying" to run at 89mhz. There are a few AGP cards that
can handle this, mostly the TNT-2 cards. 133FSB on the BX chipset is tough,
not to mention there can be problems just getting the board to post with the
coppermine cpu's.
