hi, my friends computer isnt booting up and none of the
safe mode or debug modes boot either. He uses windows XP
Home edition and he has SP1. I am trying to get into the
recovery console, but his computer did not come with an XP
disk(or he lost it, he's not sure). I have a windows XP
proffesional disk but when i try to access the recovery
console it asks for an administrator password and nothing
will work. he says none of the accounts on his computer
have a password. I tried the default
password "administrator" and that didnt work either. Is
it possible to even use the recovery console on a home
edition computer with an xp proffesional disk? if so how
can i get into the recovery console if the passwords arent
working? thanks in advaced to any help with this problem.

i made a mistake, my email is actually (e-mail address removed)
if you want to email me about the problem, thanks

did you try leaving the password for administrator
blank

you may want to try using ERD Commander 2002 - Winternals
this may let you correct the password issue
