Have running surveillance system that will be accumulating data.
Need to protect system from hacks (deletion of files, code insert, etc.).
Can password protect BIOS to prevent detectable boot to a hack disk (would have to clear CMOS).
Can use seal on case to prevent detectable HDD pull (would have to damage seal).

Need way to lock access to running system to prevent the deletion of accumulated surveillance data.
Do not care if anyone sees this data, just need to prevent altering / deletion of files or code insert.

Any simple / low cost suggestions??
Thanks

Hi ee555..Welcome to PCR..
There probably is software out there that can do what you are asking, but unfortunately, nothing in this world is safe..If a person or person are determined to get at your data and modify/delete it they will find a way around it....

A big part of this is whether or not the intrusion is detectable.
Hopefully someone can suggest a way to lock down data access to but a few protected processes, or something like that.

You could use the above.

Also if you have two user accounts on the pc, run your programs from the guest account and from the admin account you can modify all sorts of behaviour for the guest account.

There are plenty of keylogger programs that will help you to tell if someone is messing with the pc.

Put the pc in a well ventilated safe with time locks.

Before I dig deep into Truecrypt, does anyone know if this app will allow only my surveillance apps to write to a partition / folder and nothing to delete from that folder?

I was also thinking about using a CD-R for data to prevent file delete. Any thoughts?

Thanks
