Graham

I have 3 hard drives
C: drive is win 98 boot drive
Ddrive is win xp boot drive
E: is win XP Pro boot drive

I only ever select the E: drive one from the boot menu as the others are old
systems that I no longer use.

If I deleted what is on C: drive and D: drive I assume that my E: drive
would not be bootable

What needs to be left on the old drives in order to keep the E: drive
bootable.

I hope I have explained this properly
regards graham

You can remove items from the hidden C:\boot.ini file to avoid having
the menu come up. Don't delete the default item. You can remove any
partitions you like except C:. You have to keep C: and the ntldr,
ntdetect.com and boot.ini files located there, but you can delete
C:\WINDOWS.
