Boot loop

Win2000Prof
C & D on first HD
G is second HD
500 MHz
384 Ram

Problem: PC will not boot to Windows. Instead, it first
asks to check disks for consistency or press any key to
abort. Then it gets to a point before achieving desktop,
stops and reboots. It's in a loop.

Done so far: While in Safe mode, defragmented all disks;
used Norton Clean Sweep. That's it. Still no luck.

Any suggestions out there? Should I just try to reinstall
Win2000Pro? I don't have any applications on C, the boot
or primary drive. D is the drive sector having the apps.

Check Event Viewer and Device Manager for errors and or non-starting
devices.
