Hi Everyone!! Could use a little bit of help with my Boot.ini. I have
WinXP on one HDD and Win98SE on another HDD. Two separate Hard Drives.
What do I add to the Boot.ini to use either HDD0 OR HDD1???? If I change
the order in the BIOS for the First Boot Device, they each load fine.

Greatly appreciate any help. TIA-----John S

John, I'm not too sure about this, but have you tried
running "msconfig" and then setting the boot drive rather
than editing the "boot.ini" file? I'm not exactly sure
how the method "msconfig" works. Sorry, but an idea.

BOOT.INI will not accomplish what you want. Your situation is that you have
two separate installations, not a "dual boot" setup. I'm assuming that
each was installed on what it thought was drive C:. That means that if you
make either drive anything other than the Primary Master (by jumper or by
BIOS) that drive will not boot.

You need a boot manager, like BootIt Next Generation, www.bootitng.com (also
a full fledged partition manager), or you need to create a true dual boot
setup.

If XP is on your C: drive, and its FAT or FAT32, its possible to reinstall
98 after the fact, and get the true dual boot. See my web site,
www.dougknox.com and go to Win XP Tips

For Win9x/Me: Install 98/Me after XP is Installed.
For Windows 2000: Install Windows 2000 after XP is installed.

Thank You Doug!!! Sorry I haven't answered sooner, but got waylaid by
something else. Your answer is much appreciated. I have been to your Web
site many times and have download a lot of the goodies. Keep up the good
work!!
Thanks again!!! JohnS
