How can I access the boot.ini file? I upgraded from win98 to Win2k ..... Do
I need to boot to DOS? I have tried
MS KB HOW TO: Edit the Boot.ini File in Windows 2000 .... I do not see the
file, even after I go into properties and "show hidden files" I can "edit
c:\boot.ini" but it will not allow me to save it?

Thanks

1.) Explorer|Tools|Folder Options|View, then radio button for "Show hidden
files and folders", then uncheck the box for "Hide protected operating
system files" to locate the files in the system partition.

2.) Clear the read-only bit

Greetings --

Simply edit C:\Boot.ini to remove the unnecessary line.

1) Click Start > Run, Type "Cmd" and then press <Enter>.

2) Type "Cd\" and then press <Enter>

3) Type "Attrib C:\Boot.ini -h -r -s" and then press <Enter>

4) Click Start > Run, Type "Notepad c:\boot.ini" and then press
<Enter>

5) Edit the file as desired, save it, and then exit Notepad.

6) Type "Attrib C:\Boot.ini +h +r +s" and then press <Enter>

7) Close the command console.
