I have a serial device that is being reconized as a Serial Ball mouse
and of course it is not. What is the Vista equivalent of XP/NT
boot.ini setting of
Version 4.00" /NoSerialMice:COM1
I do not see a BCDEdit option to do this?
Not sure if it will help you (it isn't a complete solution for me,
unfortunately) but the only thing I've found that helps serial devices
at all in Vista is to set "SkipEnumerations"=dword:ffffffff in
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\ACPI\PNP0501\1\Device Parameters.
Change the \1\ to the appropriate COM port if not COM1.
This keeps Vista from toggling the RTS line 3 times, which causes some
devices to respond. It does not, however, keep Vista from spewing about
160 bytes of data through the port in its efforts to autodetect the
connected device.
Please post back if you find a better solution as I need it as well.
BTW, I thought /NoSerialMice was deprecated in favor of /FastDetect in
XP?
