Boot hangs at device listing

When I started my machine (XP Home SP2) this morning, the boot routine
stopped at the PCI device listing which displays controller IRQs; the
last listing shown was ACPI controller. After about 45 seconds the
routine resumed and Windows loaded. When I restarted, the same thing
happened. I made no system changes or installations yesterday...just a
normal day of surfing and email. How do I troubleshoot this
hang-up...or should I ignore it?

The ACPI manages the power to the computers devices,i would imagine
the controller is going, look for another mb.

It's whatever is loading after the ACPI controller that's causing
problem.

Change cards around, flash your bios, putting in a new battery are
possibilities.

or

go into your bios and look around, change something then change it
back to it's first setting, save changes.
Sometimes it works.

I disabled ACPI in the BIOS, rebooted, then enabled ACPI. This seemed
to fix the problem. Thanks for the suggestion.
