Dear all,

Based on your expertise, is it possible for me to boot my Inspiron
1300 from an usb external HDD?

I'm planning to use Win XP Pro. I have checked through the BIOS in
which there's an option for Boot device: "USB Storage".

Is it possible? If yes, i'll go on and buy an USB External HDD.
Thanks.

for booting from usb, i would think it would be possible to test out the
possibility using an ordinary usb flash/thumb/jump/{whatever the heck
people call them in your neck of the woods} drive...

depending on your BIOS ( I think yes )

but USB (even at 2.0) is going to be so slow,
If it were an option I'd go for eSATA, (daughter card) 3GB would be best
(would be faster than IDE)
