A mate of mine has suddenly been getting problems with bios changing the Boot
drive order.

Happens about once a week, I replaced the Cmos battery but it still does it..

Yes gets the NTLDR is Missing

Has 3 HD from memory, the STA one is the boot drive.

Google searches did not help as they all refer to a hard on problem not a
random one.

BIOS settings are maintained in a chip by the CMOS battery.
If the settings are not maintained, and the battery is OK, then
the chip itself is probably failing.

If the functional problem is failure to boot for lack of NTLDR,
it might be cured temporarily by copying NTLDR to the root
of each HDD.

If you didn't allow much time between removing the old battery and replacing
it with the new one, you may have to remove it for 10-15 minutes. Without
the battery providing the energy to save personal settings as well as any
corruption or viral infection (if present), the BIOS should be reset to
default parameters, erasing everything that was induced after leaving the
store. The same problem may be causing the BIOS to not detect the NTLDR
boot file... so reset it and if it doesn't fix the problem, upgrade the BIOS
program.
