If you have a Windows XP installation CD, it's bootable, and that's your emergency startup disk. However, you can download diskettes here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/results.aspx?productID=&freetext=boot+disk&DisplayLang=en Is it possible to make one that will recognize the NTFS drive? Click to expand... MS-DOS will not recognize an NTFS drive. To do so requires the use of a third-party utility, such as NTFSDOS.

H Harry Ohrn Oct 2, 2003 #3 check here to learn how to create a floppy to facilitate booting into XP http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q314079 It really depends on what you want to do though. All Windows XP CD's are bootable and will enable you to access the Recovery Console to do repairs. If you can't boot your CD-Rom you can use this six floppy set (download correct version for your OS) http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?releaseid=33290 Home Edition http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?releaseid=33291 Pro Edition If you need to recovery data off an NTFS drive you can give NTFS Reader for DOS a go http://www.ntfs.com/products.htm
