I upgraded from 98se. And though I've searched and searched, can not
find out how to make a xp boot disk.

The XP CD is bootable. If you need to boot from it, set your BIOS to 1st
boot from CD and all the tools are available to format, partition, install,
etc.

If ,for some reason you feel you need floppies, go to bootdisk.com and
download from them.

Windows XP is a more advanced version of 98.. It asks you during the install process if you would like to make a bootdisk.. this is all i remember.

First - the Windows XP CD is bootable and contains all the tools needed to
install and repair (normally) a Windows XP system.

Windows XP can create a DOS boot disk when you format a floppy - you should
see the option to do this if you format the floppy diskette using the
"right-click on the floppy drive and select format" method.

If you need diskettes to help you setup Windows because your computer cannot
boot from CD (IMHO - don't run Windows XP if you cannot do this..), then
check this out:

XP Home Edition:

XP Professional Edition:

You'll need 6 blank floppy diskettes.

If you just want to Create a Boot Disk to Guard Against Being Unable to
Start Windows XP:

Thanks to all that replied! Will follow up and 'make' boot disks!

As to the above comment. I've been using a puter since before 3.1 and
used to even mess around in DOS.

I DO NOT feel comfortable without having means to boot a MS product!

And what if CD fails...

I hope you do not misunderstand my comment. It is about your machine, not
you..

If your machine does not have the option to boot from a CD, it is my opinion
that you should not bother putting Windows XP on it - as it is likely old
enough to give you other problems you may not want. Safer to either upgrade
the hardware or go with another OS...

I am like you since I like DOS & a boot disk. I don't know if this will work
but after seeing your post I am going to try it. I am running XP on my
computer. I went into Control Panel & did a search on "boot disk". It allows
you to build a boot disk that will only boot into DOS. On the old 3.1
systems
that I ran (245 of them) we built a boot disk & then added the drivers for
the CD. If I remember correctly (it was many, many years ago) we then added
the information to, I believe, win. ini, sys.ini & config.sys. We also added
the
driver to the boot disk. I am not sure that it can be added to a XP boot
disk
if there is not enough room on the floppy. I am going to try it though.
Let you know.........marvo
