I have done a search on my computer and cannot find boot.ini. What folder is
it in?

In addition to what the others have said. The XP CD is bootable. If you need
"setup" floppies for XP you can get the set here.

go start/run - msconfig/boot.ini - tab/
and
take it fr there

boot.ini is a hidden system file. Open an Explorer window and go to
Tools->Folder Options->View Tab and select "Show hidden files and folders"
then click Apply. You will find boot.ini in your C drive
