I have Windows XP Home edition that I want to load on my son's computer. I
do not have the boot disks however.

I have tried downloading the boot disks from various sites but always get an
error message that the disks do not work.

HELP!!!

Hi,

1) You don't need the boot disks if the system supports booting fro ma CD. A
WinXP CD is bootable. Just load it and start the installer.

2) You don't need the boot disks if you are upgrading an existing system.
Just boot the machine, insert the CD and follow the upgrade steps.

3) Make a regular dos boot floppy, boot it and load CD drivers. Run
winnt.exe from the I386 folder to start the installer.
