Boot conflicts with large capacity drives

I have been installing a WD 160 gig drive to replace a 6 gig drive. However,
the system locks up while booting up. Through much trial and error, I
discovered that W2K with SP1 works, but once I upgrade to any of the other
SP's, the system has troubles. Does anyone know what is going on and what is
the workaround?

Thanks

Does sound strange that anyone is using SP1. It may not work but do try this

Start/run/regedit
(if unsure export registry for safety)
select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
navigate to system/services/atapi/parameters or
system/currentcontrolset/services/atapi/parameters
right click for new
Select Dword name it EnableBigLba (take note of case)
set value to 1
end regedit
reboot

To see a disk above 120GB in full you need SP3 or higher. You really cannot
do much in terms of updating your system with SP1. In fact SP1 is a poor
excuse for a Sevice Pack. Get to at least SP3.
