My bookmark isn't working! I haven't been able to use it on my book...seems like it needs enabling or something. The whole thing seems dead...any ideas? Thank you.

Hi Scribbler

What version of Word are you using? What do you want to achieve with
your bookmark? And what exactly are you doing that tells you the
bookmark isn't working? That is: what keystrokes or mouseclicks are you
making? And what does Word then do?

Hope this helps.

I think we need a little more detail. How are you inserting the bookmark?
What are you trying to do with it? How is it "not working"?

What I try to do is mark my page in my book so that I can go back to it later without trying to remember which page I left it on...I use to have another program where I just opened bookmark and wrote down the page and the following day I went back to it..why is it I cannot do that with Word? I have ried many times to no avail...(the Help menu is pathetic) Monique

Sorry to jump in, but...

After opening your document, press SHIFT-F5 to go to the last place you
edited your document. No bookmarking needed!

Actually, this *is* a bookmark, just one that Word sets automatically.

Bill has given you the answer you need, but to answer the question you
asked: You use Insert | Bookmark to insert a bookmark at a specific
location. If this is the last place you were editing, you might call it
LastEdit. Note that the bookmark name must be a single word; you can use
LastEdit or Last_Edit but not Last Edit. To return to that bookmark when you
reopen the file, press Ctrl+G, select Bookmark in the list in the Go To
dialog, then type in the name of your bookmark. As you can see, this is
pretty labor intensive, which makes it a good thing there is a built-in
bookmark for your last editing position, which you can go to using Shift+F5.
