I've got a folder of bookmarks/internet links. Many of them are
single shortcuts to online sites. Others are a collection of
bookmarks. I want to sort and edit them and create a single page for
each category of links.

How can I merge them all into one document and then edit them?

Good Luck, Ayush.

You mean, using Explorer? Or IE? Import ALL the various shortcuts,
and then export as one BOOKMARK.html? Then how to edit them?

Thank you.

OK -- how? How do you load up dozens of separate shortcuts to
internet sites using Windows Explorer?

There's an easy way to access the Favorites folder in Windows Explorer
right from the Favorites menu in Internet Explorer 7. Here's how:

1. ALT + Z
2. Hold down the Shift key.
3. Click the Organize Favorites command

Now you'll be able to work with the Favorites folder from within Windows
Explorer.

Thanks, but ... that's still not giving me what I want. I did this
before but I don't remember how. Somehow, I got all the separate
shortcuts to appear in a single document; was it in Word? Explorer?
THe shortcut showed it's name, the full hyperlink site, and the
properties description of the site. I was able to edit, delete, and
move them around.

I wasn't using Internet Explorer to do it; that much I do know.

I think I figured it out ...

I used your Explorer suggestion, moved all the folders and shortcuts
into IE Favorites, then exported as one html file. I copied the html
file and pasted to word. Then in Word I can cut and paste to sort the
bookmarks, eventually making one page for each category. Then I can
save each page as an html file. I don't need to load the html file
into my browser -- I can keep it in the folder with other documents
relating to that search content, and just open the html file and click
on the link I want.

So, I have a folder called LINGUISTICS with lots of documents. Now I
have added an html file with all of my linguistics bookmarks.htm. So
I can keep and access my bookmarks without cluttering up my browser
with links that I use only rarely.

ok,
if you have IE, and have stashed a bunch of favs (links) in any
directory. Just a stash of them, use SimpleBookmark, quickly converts
into HTML.

http://www.topshareware.com/Simple-Bookmark-download-2742.htm

GREAT program.

If you are using FF, or IE let me know where they are, how they are
"stored".

I have been working on a self-project of bookmarks and conversions,
have some great freeware programs to help you, what you want to do.
