I am looking for some reliable Freeware for a small home book
collection/library. The main need is to manage and file book
inventories.

If you know of any such software, links would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to look up this link.
Unfortunately all the applications are shareware.

Homebase is very a complete cataloguer (designed for booksellers) - but
it's easy to use (my recommendation for an off-the-shelf solution - you
may feel it's overkill though)

or . . .

Book Organizer

BookDB

or . . .

A tree-type notes program like TreePad or Keynote - one note for each
book - is easy to work with and you're not locked into a fixed format. A
good choice for a small collection. NOTE: TreePad has a very good
search. GoldenSectionNotes can also store graphics. See this page:

or a spreadsheet (which is what I use for cataloging books)- Calc is one
part of the OpenOffice.org office suite

Mea Culpa!!!

It is what happens if you only skim headlines. I saw www.greatfreeware.com &
"Book Collection Managers", and thought this will be *IT*. I just bookmarked
the site for later use.

U no bad. Come out from that corner!!!

I prefer to create my own database for my books. You can use little
lists for windows (it's free, abandonware from http://www.rkwest.com).
w95-mb (also free, unfortunately I forgot the name of the website) was
written specifically as an easy to yse db for books.. TDB152.exe is a
free database from Netkosoft in Netherlands. There are other free db
programs on the netkosoft website. You can also find it listed on
nonags.
Do a google search for nonags and netkosoft for their URL's. Hope that
this helps you. lt.
p.s. I use a shareware database program - dbworx - from
http://www.plworx.com

Note: remove the ZZZ from my name and email address; I append the ZZZ to
prevent spam harvestors from getting my email address.)
