BOClean Is A Joke!!!!

HA!!! What a joke BOClean http://www.nsclean.com/boclean.html is.
They claim their product is the best at stopping little nasties like
trojans.

They say

"If it smells like a nasty, BOClean halts it completely and then
throws up a box asking if you want to remove it and its entrails
completely."

"BOClean is the Perfect Holiday Gift
....perfect for that loved one who's always having problems with
their computer, or constantly forgets to scan. BOClean works in real
time, so there's never any maintenance to forget."

I say it's usless then.

A. The makers of BOClean ASSUME that you (the user of their product)
will know which process or dependency is a good one and which are
questionable. If you download and install a new program how are you
to know what is good and what is bad? Hell I have been using a
computer for years and can't tell you every process or dependency
every program I have uses. Never mind if they are bad or good.

B. If someone "constantly forgets to scan" their computer with an
Antvirus program they are more apt to allow ALL or MOST of the
"nasties" to run. If not just to save time and hassle. That burning
need to download the latest rubber ducky porn sure goes faster if you
just click yes.

BOClean is so not for the novice user. The FUD coming from BOCLean
makers is incredible.

I've never looked at it, so assuming the OP's description of its
operation is accurate...

You have just re-discovered the ancient problem of generic behaviour
blocking approaches to "security". Far too much "good stuff" does
things that "nasties" may do and vice versa. This makes automatic
differentiation all but impossible _with an acceptable error rate_.
So, the designers adopt a "we'll let the user decide" approach which
almost assuredly throws up the "if you're stupid enough to need this
software you're too stupid to use it properly" paradox and its
various corollaries...
