I cannot tell much about this specific cartridge, but have a few guidelines:
If the "expiration date" in actually the "install by" date on the cartridge
package it means there is still 9 months of warranty remaining. In this case
the cartridge is probably fine, assuming it has not been stored improperly.
No printer that uses the #78 cartridges enforces any expiration date; you can
use old cartridges as long as they give OK results.
If the date referred to is the warranty date printed on the cartridge itself
then it is a bit more risky; if stored on their sides or at high temperatures
the cartridges may develop shelf life issues including the loss of one or more
colors.
