Bought an ECS 755-A2 with a Sempron 2800 CPU and it only sees 256M of a
512M stick of double sided ram. Haven't tried upgrading bios yet and was
just wondering if anyone else here has seen a problem similar? The manual
says it supports double rank ram. This ram worked fine in an old socket A
sis 746fx board. Not a real problem since it's just a MythTV frontend box,
but it's bugging me.;-)

Upgrading to latest bios fixed the problem and added some more interesting
looking features.

Does that board have any overclocking settings in the bios? Can you
adjust the fsb or core voltage?

Well, that was what I was trying to make it. It's now a paperweight after
I got through with hacking the bios and flashing my hacked bios to it. I
almost just enabled the stuff I wanted, but I went hog wild and enabled
everything except 1 option. Flashed fine, but wouldn't boot afterwards.
Now I got a Sempron 2800 for sell if anyone needs a cheap S754 cpu. Was
think about buying an NF3-250 board to replace it, but I had an
overclocked Duron 1600 MB/cpu that works about the same as the stock
Sempron 2800 for a frontend MythTV box.

I don't know if you are aware of this, but there are several places
that will reflash a bad BIOS and get it working again. Several years
ago I mailed mine to a guy in the Netherlands and he returned it
promptly. I had other problems, so the reflash wasn't enough to get it
going again.

I googled and found these sites. I believe I used this one:

http://www.flashbios.org

http://www.badflash.com
http://www.recoverybios.com/biosrecovery/En/index.php

It's not cost effective for one soldered on a cheap board.
