Blurry screen

I recently purchased a Gateway GM5626 computer, and use a Westinghouse 19
inch LCD monitor. I had a perfect picture until today, when I booted it.
Lines flashed horizontally across my screen as it loaded, and when it finally
finished, everything on the screen appeared blurry. I attempted to change
the screen resolution, but no matter what I set it to, it didn't get better.
I'd appreciate any help you can give me.
