Blurry pictures

I'm making a slideshow. I edited my pictures to make sure they have clarity
before inserting them into the show. When I insert the pics into the
collection area and view them, they are clear. When I drop them into the
timeline, they blur. In hopes that it was only a memory saving method, I
made the movie. They stay blurry even after I make the movie. Any
thoughts???

You help is greatly appreciated.

it could be that video quality isn't up to your expectations... a high
quality DVD is about 1/3 of a megapixel.... compared to a 5 megapixel camera
for stills, it's not a lot.

it could be that you opted for a lower quality choice when saving the
movie...

if the quality choices included in MM2 aren't sufficient, you can use custom
profiles to go higher... see my Saving Movies > Custom WMV Profiles page

Having FINALLY gotten a show burned to DVD, after months, I find there are
too many hidden 'shoulda done's' for this WMM scenario. Even starting from
the basic concept that you dont save individual pictures with enhanced edges
you do that AFTER all of any rework to the pix is done. And that there is a
preferred format, what, izzit BMP not JPG? And that size matters. In other
woids, our magic video image rez is what like 640 x 480 and many of us
including me, figger bigger is better and make images like 1800 x 1400 or
some wierd number, and the computer has to RESIZE these down to that video
standard which I just stated.
NOBODY NO EXPERT here has attempted to give basic common sense setups for
the VERY START of our files!!!!
Then we, you and I, figure we did good and BANG we got blurry images!!!!!
NOW
How BIG is your show???? Did you make it 40 or 50 images as a trial???
AHAH- Nobody, yep NOBODY, says, nor do the 'great' instructions included in
WMM, say- hey fella, you're NEW HERE, start with a movie or slide show of 5
images. Get it right, be sure U can burn it to DVD and that it plays ,is
sharp, etc. THEN go for the big stuff.
!@()*$)(@!*#()!@*#()*!@()#*) I use these words often with this WMM
scenario, they are appropriate.
My 'at last and finally' show has music of about 6 cuts, 45 slides,
transitions, and a start and finish made with WMM.

Am sure PAPA J will comment on all this, its the forgotten equation in this
fiasco.

Continued luck in yer project

Larry

Note also I was able to plan the slide movie on my new $100 LiteON settop DVD
recorder/player. Quality was not great, however I am playing it on a Gateway
42" Plasma TV which probably makes a negative difference. Simply too tired
to move the Liteon to another TV to test.
Another thing, dont keep saving your file with a new file name, like "Susies
Party", Susies Party 1" Susies Party 2" etc. Depending on your hard
drive size you can literally cause your Computer to slow down processing.
Been there, done that.......

All I can say to that Larry is that I agree with you...

In the first chapter of my Movie Maker 2 'Do Amazing Things' book, I guide
the reader through the whole process, making a 2 minute movie... so they can
see it all and see the outcome before investing considerable time in a
bigger project.

There are many other there who do a pilot project first, with no hurry-up to
meet deadline.... but it's free to do as you wish, and many prefer to jump
in all the way first... both ways can get you wherever you're going.

All these issues are resolved by Photostory so why not use that for the
slideshows?

Because I stumbled on WWM 18 months ago mebbee, and it appeared to be The
Answer, and was free with XPSP2? So I spend months using it, BUT never had
a DVD burner. When I got a nice $100 (?) USB DVD burner, I started
"attempting" to burn my WMM files to DVD. But that is a whole other issue as
many posts testify.

NOW I got the SSM SlideShowMaker 4 or so months ago? BUT it does NOT work
same as WWM, Duuuh MS!!!!!!!!! The 'commands' for transitions and video
fancies, are different, as are other portions. So MS gave Workgroup R the
task of making a SSM similar to WWM. SIMILAR. Duuuhhhh. I can just see our
current set of skywalkers having to deal with new formats every flight.....

So yes I tried. I swore. I curse MS for its brash insensitividy in regards
to human habits, and the fact that Workgroup R already had the work half done
already in code.

Nuff said.

PS TO ALL

Currently my ONLY "DVD" version of any of my AVI files is a what, SVCD????
yep, done 6 mos ago. Nebber have been able to make a true DVD.....

Hi Larry,

If you can come out of your rage, you may liek to explain what exactly you
are talking about? "SSM SlideShowMaker 4" is not a product from Microsoft.
All your curses to MS are unjustified.
