Blurry jittery video after added to timeline

I've captured my video in AVI format and it plays with excellent quality from
the collections window in full screen. However, after adding it to the
timeline and playing full screen it looses A LOT of quality and seems
jittery. I thought it was my video, but I have the same prob with playing
back the title animation I created in MM2. Is this a codecs problem? I just
recently installed a new DVD writer (with it's associated video playback
software - PowerDVD) and a 200 gig hard drive. Could this have messed up MM2?
Maybe I should reinstall DirectX, WMP 10, and SP2. Any advice?

I have a similar problem:
I have two hard drives. When I capture in DV-AVI format on my primary drive
(C:) everything works fine. When I capture in DV-AVI format on my secondary
drive (D:) the audio and video is quite "choppy". The second drive has a
capacity of 120 Gb while the first only has 40 Gb. Both drives spin @ 7200
RPM. I think I am using CS for the second drive though. I also have two ROMs,
one is a DVD rom the other is a DVD RW.
What is even more weird, after working on a project on drive (D:) and
exporting it to DV-AVI format, I then copy it to my C: drive and everything
runs smoothly.
I believe that there is a definite problem in my settings for this drive. It
might be the same problem as Eyeman.

Maybe I should of posted my problem as a new question, but I felt that our
situation was quite similar.

Thanks,
Rico

Rehan, that's almost embarrassing for me to admit that a degraded preview
makes sense now. The quality did return after the movie was saved. Thanks for
your help. I love support forums.

You are welcome. I wish the reduced quality in preview could have been a
selectable option...
