I've been having trouble installing the microsoft
intellimouse for bluetooth on my Dell laptop with windows
XP Home. I have service pack 1 installed, windows is
updated completely. I installed the software following
the instructions but recieved and error regarding a
missing file i8042prt.sys The installation cannot
continue unless the request for the missing file is
canceled. At that point the mouse will not be detected.
I have since uninstalled the intellipoint software. I
now have a new problem. My previously functioning D-Link
wireless card is no longer working. The D-Link software
says that the card cannot be found even though it is
securely inserted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

After doing a little searching I've found that the
missing file is a driver for a PS/2 port. So does this
mean that since my laptop does not have a PS/2 port I am
going to be unable to install the bluetooth mouse? I am
becoming more and more discouraged by this mouse. It's
System requirements are far too restrictive. Not only
must you have Windows XP completely excluding any of the
other supported Windows versions, but you must also run
it on a desktop?

Hi,

Go to Dell website to update the mobo BIOS for your laptop.
Also, there is a patch fore wireless device in the windows update site.
