Advice Needed.

Application - Remote field mounted device.
Intentions - Tech. to pull up to site with laptop or PDA, establish a
wireless connection to this device in order to copy files and use Remote
desktop.

More - No routers would be involved.

Which would be the best, and easiest solution, 802.11 in adhoc mode, or
bluetooth?

Thanks.

BT has an effective range of ~20 feet. anything beyond that and there's no
signal quality, and you stand the potential to drop connections. if you can
always be closer than that, you are fine, however BT is also slower than
WIFI...

if the device in the field is Battery powered, there are considerations
there that would lean you toward BT as well. (BT draws much less power from
the system)

BTW both are well supported in XPE... (that's really the discussion in this
NG)
