Bluetooth license check failed query

I am using Windows XP and have installed Bluetooth to run a mobile
phone. I have managed on one occasion to transfer my data to MS Outlook
but now keep getting the message "bluetooth license check failed, please
use a proper bluetooth device". I have installed a proper bluetooth
dongle into a USB hub connected to my PC. Can anyone tell me what is
wrong, to be so near installing it correctly and to fail like this is so
frustrating. I have paired my phone and PC correctly but this license
business is beating me, so frustrating.
I realise this is slightly off-topic but I hope someone will help,
please.

This sounds like a problem with the bluetooth software you are using, who is
the manufacturer?

Robert.

I can't thank you enough for replying to my query. The manufacturer of
the "dongle" is Newlink and the software for the phone is Nokia.
It seems I must have got it right for a while because at about two am in
the morning I got my PC and phone to talk to each other and then,
removed all my old data from MS Outlook, (I don't use it for email), and
managed to download all my contacts to it so I now have them stored and
backed up. However, the very next day when I opened up my PC it asked me
to install my bluetooth device all over again and now it does not "find"
it and in telling me I don't have a license.
Sorry for my inadequate and longwinded explanation above which comes
from the fact that I haven't a clue what is going on.
Hope you can make something of all that.

Hi Derrick,

Hi Kelly.

Am following up your suggestion above and am currently downloading a
fix, lets see what happens.
If I don't get results then my "dongle" is for the "dangle" (sorry,
bin)!

Now the latest is the fix is taking all day to download via 512 ADSL,
whatever next?

Kind regards and much thanks for your help,

Well I was working towards a particular theory of something i've seen happen
before, but i'm not sure my idea is viable now. Kelly has got some good
resources for reading about the problem which may prove helpful, as you can
see, its quite common!

You might see if newlink have any special tools for completely cleaning your
current install of their bluetooth software and drivers off your machine, so
you can try the install again with a fresh slate. But to be honest, i'm
shooting in the dark here as much as you!

Yes Rob, thank you for the above. I have looked at Kelly's most helpful
suggestions and indeed downloaded the patches to no avail, (so far), but
I am now going to look at the Newlink site and will, if I may, report
back if I am successful.
