Hello Paul,
I hope you are good. I am close to wits end with Microsoft related to a
possible problem with Windows Vista.
I bought a Dell Inspiron 1501 last year, and Windows Vista Home Premium came
fully installed.
From the first week of turning it on my computer crashed- with the same kind
of problem. I boutght my laptop at the end of oct 07. The problem was that
whenever it was on for extended periods of time the screen would just stick
and then there would be the bluescreen. It would not have any error messages
but just lots of ----and llll dashes on the screen. This would stay like
this for about 6 or 7 seconds then the computer would automatically restart.
Once it has restarted it will say that it didnt shut down properly and it
would check for solutions which it never finds.
I have spoken to Dell numerous times about this. I have ran hardware tests
and none of the hardware is failing. I have taken all the software off the
computer and then put everything back on, but to no avail the same problem
occurs.
I have taken off all the add-ons that came with the computer when I
uninstalled all the software so I dont think it relates to any of them.
Could you possibly suggest something or someone that I can contact. I have
also checked the Windows site but the bluescreen error messages they have are
all specific for e.g oxooo type errors which this one isn't. Dell say they
cannot really help me any further on the hardware side because there is no
specific error with the bluescreen.
I am at a loss of what I should do.
This seems to happen to me at least 3 times a week when I am using my
laptop. If I have had it on for a long period of time it can happen twice in
a day.
I would be very thankful for any advice that you could assit me on.
