Some of the file and folder names in my partner's computer (win xp) have
turned light blue. No other symptoms noticed. We haven't recognized any
pattern or cause yet. Cause? Fix?
Thanks,
Jim Costello

Hi, Jim.

By default, the blue filenames indicate files and folders that have been
compressed. You may have compressed them intentionally, or Disk Cleanup may
have compressed some folders (after you said OK). Compression saves disk
space, and today's CPUs compress and decompress them so quickly that there
is negligible time penalty, so you might as well leave them compressed.

Thanks very much

They are compressed files. It's normal and there's nothing to
fix.
